Now entering our 3rd year, we are happy to announce that we will open enrollment for Fall 2024/Spring 2025 on March 15. We will have 4 classrooms and our instruction level will go to about a 4th learning level for this year.
Our hybrid experience meets on Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00am to 2:00pm at our location - 701 Cherry Street Wind Gap, PA 18091. The purpose of this 2 day a week program is to support parents and their children in their homeschool journey!
Our program focuses on growing the whole child: head, hands, and heart. We instill a love of learning with a balanced approach through free play, games, and hands on activities. We cultivate creativity, encourage imagination, and embrace individuality, while developing life skills in a home away from home.
Our small class size creates a non-overwhelming environment that allows for individualized teacher attention, as well as a peaceful opportunity to develop authentic friendships.
Here at It Takes A Village, we embrace all of our community members. Our families bring life to our classroom. We support one another on our journey, celebrating many of our similarities, differences, traditions and beliefs, along the way. We embrace and welcome all religious backgrounds, but teach none. The only fellowship that we focus on is a sense of community.
Our village’s curricular philosophy is a tapestry woven of many popular educational “best practice” methods. We have incorporated strands of the highly valued, well loved, child centered, developmentally appropiate, approaches of Waldorf, Reggio Emilio, and Montessori, into our one of a kind daily lessons. We plan to use the following curriculum as guides and references to our literature rich teaching techniques and we will adjust as needed to meet the children where they need to be met:
Handwriting - Handwriting without tears
ELA - All About Reading
Math - Shiller
The children will be immersed in stories experiencing authentic literature that invokes a love of reading, story telling, and life lessons. They will be exposed to poetry and the beauty of language. The learning will be authentic with real world applications and life lessons. Of course, we will build on the basics, of handwriting, grammar and phonics too. You can also expect periodic informal assessments that will show us how much our children knows and what skills they still need to grow in. Your child will accumulate many artifacts for his/her portfolio.
