Curiosity. Community. Connection.
Our Wednesday Learning Experiences & Enrichment Program returns for the

2026–2027 learning season this September!
What Are Learning Experiences?
Now entering our fifth year, we intentionally call our time together on Wednesday mornings (10am-12pm) Learning Experiences rather than classes because we believe the most meaningful learning happens when children are actively engaged in the world around them—not simply listening to someone talk about it.
Our Learning Experiences are immersive, hands-on explorations that weave together science, history, literature, engineering, art, mathematics, nature, and service around one central theme. Rather than teaching subjects in isolation, we help learners discover how everything is connected. Whether we're stepping into a Renaissance village, investigating the science behind mythical creatures, exploring how nature inspires modern technology, or assembling prosthetic hands for individuals around the world, every experience is designed to spark curiosity while encouraging learners to ask questions, solve problems, collaborate, create, and think critically.
At ITAV, we believe children learn best when they are actively engaged, asking questions, solving problems, creating with their hands, collaborating with others, and making meaningful connections to the world around them.
Our mixed-age community remains one of our greatest strengths. Younger learners are inspired by older peers, while older learners naturally develop leadership, patience, empathy, and confidence through mentoring those around them. At the same time, we recognize that children learn differently at different stages of development, which is why our learning experiences are thoughtfully adapted for each age group.

Weekly Enrichment Rotation
Our enrichment offerings rotate each week. When our Primary learners are participating in Art, Yoga & Meditation, our Secondary learners will be attending Let’s Get Musical—and vice versa. This alternating schedule allows both groups to benefit from all enrichment areas over the course of the month.
Program Options & Pricing
As with last year, families can choose between:
You’re welcome to commit for the full year to reserve your learner’s spot, or join us on a drop-in basis week-to-week or month-to-month. Please note: We filled up every week last year, so we recommend signing up early if you're interested.

Learning Together, Growing Together
One of the defining characteristics of ITAV has always been our commitment to mixed-age learning.
Outside of school walls, life is naturally mixed-age. Children learn from older siblings, younger cousins, neighbors, grandparents, coaches, employers, and friends. They observe, imitate, mentor, lead, and collaborate with people of all ages. We believe those interactions are not accidental—they're an important part of how children grow.
Traditional education often separates children into narrowly defined age groups. While there are practical reasons for this approach, it can also reduce opportunities for younger learners to be inspired by older peers and for older learners to develop confidence, empathy, patience, and leadership by mentoring those coming behind them.
At ITAV, we intentionally preserve the richness of mixed-age community while recognizing that learners also benefit from developmentally appropriate instruction.
Rather than asking every learner to complete the exact same task simply because they share a birthday, we strive to meet children where they are academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
Learning ExperiencesOur weekly Learning Experiences are divided into two instructional groups:
This allows our educators to tailor investigations, discussions, and projects to each learner's stage of development while still exploring the same overarching theme together.
Enrichment
Our afternoon Enrichment experiences are even more intentionally designed around learner growth.
Enrichment is divided into three learning levels:
As children grow, their needs naturally change. Separating our enrichment in this way allows us to thoughtfully build upon skills from year to year, ensuring each learner is appropriately challenged, supported, and encouraged. Rather than expecting a five-year-old and an eleven-year-old to experience art, yoga, music, language, or theater in exactly the same way, our instructors can meet learners where they are and help them continue growing from there.
At the same time, our learners regularly come back together throughout the day for outdoor exploration, lunch, community-building activities, and free play, preserving the friendships and mentorship that make mixed-age learning so special.
This structure also allows us to keep our class sizes intentionally small while welcoming more homeschooling families into our community. By thoughtfully dividing instructional groups without losing our shared community, we're able to provide personalized experiences, meaningful relationships, and more opportunities for learners to participate.
It's the best of both worlds: a vibrant mixed-age community paired with learning experiences intentionally designed for where each child is today—and where they're growing tomorrow.

Our 8-Week Enrichment Rotation
One of the exciting changes for the 2026–2027 learning season is our new 8-week enrichment model.
Rather than rotating enrichments every afternoon (1-2pm), learners will spend eight weeks immersed in each enrichment before moving to the next. This allows children to build deeper relationships with their instructors, develop stronger skills, complete larger projects, and experience meaningful growth over time.
Throughout the year, every learner will participate in:
🎨 SPARK Art, Yoga & Meditation
We're proud to continue our partnership with Mr. Sebastian and our friends at SPARK, whose philosophy beautifully aligns with our own belief in educating the whole child.
Art encourages creativity, observation, imagination, and self-expression.
Yoga develops strength, balance, confidence, perseverance, and body awareness.
Meditation teaches children how to slow down, regulate emotions, focus their attention, and simply be present.
These experiences are not "extras" at ITAV—they are an essential part of helping learners develop emotionally, socially, physically, and creatively while supporting success across every academic area.
The year concludes with our annual Spring Art Showcase, celebrating the creativity and growth of every learner.
🌍 NEW! Language Lab
We're excited to introduce Language Lab, a brand-new enrichment experience for this learning season.
Led by one of our own ITAV educators who speaks Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese, learners will explore language through games, conversation, music, storytelling, movement, and cultural traditions.
Rather than focusing on memorization, Language Lab encourages curiosity about the world while helping learners recognize patterns, build confidence, and experience the joy of communicating in another language.
🎭 Let's Get Musical... and More
Music continues to grow at ITAV!
Our younger learners will build a strong musical foundation through singing, rhythm, movement, instruments, and musical play while learning songs that become part of our annual Spring Showcase.
For our Secondary learners, music expands into the exciting world of theater.
Learners will explore acting, storytelling, vocal performance, character development, stage presence, collaboration, and scenic design while working together to produce an original theatrical production for our annual Spring Showcase.
Whether learners dream of performing on stage or prefer creating the magic behind the scenes, every role is valued and every learner contributes to the final production.
Please Note: Because our theater production builds week after week, Secondary learners wishing to participate in the musical production are asked to commit to the full 8-week "Let's Get Musical... and More" rotation.
